February’s Chopper Trip to NorCal

In February one of those trips we generally just dream about came true. Uncle Charlie and his brother Eric Senior drove 7 bikes from Minneapolis to San Francisco where Chris, Charlie, John, Eric and myself flew out to meet them. There were breakdowns, crashes, fights and some open-mouth kissing…. overall, the best trip I’ve been…

Minneapolis Messaround 2013

MPLS Messaround this year was A-Okay. A good turnout of cars complimented by a bounty of rockabilly and greaser kids. Some women looked like pinup centerfolds and other women looked like men. Jordan from Union Speed and Style built an incredible Panhead for Born Free 5 this year and despite the fact that it didn’t…

De-raking a Panhead Wishbone Frame

I recently acquired an early 50’s wishbone panhead frame from my friend Eric for my winter’s shovelhead build. He set me up with a solid deal on it as it needed some work to bring back to life. At some point in its colorful past a few passionate drinkers and drug users decided to make…

Movie Monday – Werewolves on Wheels, 1971

I saw a picture of a guy’s chopper-haven basement and above the Panhead motor on the coffee table and 45 Springer rolling chassis were three classic biker movie posters. The fact that this dude was adorning his household domain with biker gold led me to believe he was no puss when it came to taste…

More Weekend Whips

Here are some more photos from Saturday’s car shows. Justin and I did St. Bonaventure with Columbus & Co during the midday and then Anoka, MN in the eveing. Justin helped build the Deuce Coupe project (Medusa at top) at Vescio’s when he was working there some years back. It’s a true show-stopper and it’s…

Anoka Car Show & Wide Angle Lenses

Morlock hooked me up with a loaner lens because I’m looking into a wide angle. This is the Canon 17-40 and it was a riot to use. Any wider than 17mm and I’d see the back of my head.

Where Georgia O’keefe Sat Her Flower.

Herk did a romp around in Santa Fe and came across this rad WL that belonged to the one and only, Geogria O’Keefe. He found it in the archives and emailed it to me yesterday for the blog and we got a hearty laugh out of it. I have mixed emotions on Georgia from having…

LIFE Photos from 60’s Outlaw Scene

I’ve collected a lot of photos that I’ve come across over the years and there’s a folder full of the late 60’s Outlaw scene, specifically the HA’s on the West Coast. From what I understand, a lot of these pics were from the Baraboo chapter. Most of the photos came from an XL Sportster thread…

Pour Another Cup of Coffee & Enjoy This…

I swiped this from The Horse BC’s Balktalk. Women on bikes are foxy and a little home maintenance goes a long way. It’s Micky Lynn’s Harley Davidson Ironhead chop and I think it’s a really cool, dirty little machine. Good functionality though with disc brakes front and back and a riding stance that looks to…

Bikes from Messaround

This is a really well done Triumph unit chop. Simple, but plenty of attention to detail. Copper lines, velocity stacks, chain tensioner and a whole lot of chrome. That tank is fantastic. Tristan Henderson, from Further Performance, owns this awesome little GS400 lane-splitter. He was a pleasure to talk to and is a very knowledgeable…

Minneapolis Messaround

The Messaround is a fantastic period correct car show in Minneapolis at the Memory Lanes Bowling Alley. The cars are top-notch hot rods, the bikes were killer and the scene is solid greaser culture. I’m passionate about tattooed women and cars with more than 5 carburetors so it was very relative to my interests.  http://www.minneapolismessaround.com/…

Critter Shoot-Out

The MN State Fair is in full effect and we have a little challenge underway. Morlock, Columbus & I are having a contest to see who can capture the coolest photo of obese carnage. We have great categories for bonus points to be awarded by an anonymous panel. I’ll post the winner’s shot when the…
